Latinos are the most rapidly growing minority group in the United States, predicted to comprise 29% of the population by 2050, yet they have the lowest college completion rate. While Latino high school graduation rates have improved, only 15% hold degrees. One-third of Latinos students in public schools live at or below the poverty level, with a majority of these students attending schools lacking the resources and guidance to assist with the complexities of navigating the continuing education process.
The Latino Youth Outreach Empowerment program will select the top Latino seniors, from high schools, nominated by their principals, within low-income families to participate in the Latino Youth Outreach Empowerment Program. The program is designed to assist high school seniors and their families with WORKSHOPS offering guidance and resources to navigate the complexities of pursing higher education and apportion resources to assist with the costs through Scholarships.
Exceptional High school Latino seniors (17-19) from low-income families with a goal of achieving Higher Education
Online Program focusing on Latino Students from low-income communities within New York City, San Diego, Houston, Chicago, Washington DC and Miami.
High school principals will nominate one (1) extraordinary and outstanding Latino senior (Scholar), per high school, from the graduating class of 2023 & 2024 (50 Students Per Market)
A three (3) stage-mentoring program; Evaluation, Resources and Completion stage. The Latino Youth Outreach Empowerment program will assist Latino Students and their families offering resources and tools that can help them overcome the challenges of reaching their goals of continuing education The program purpose is to improve the opportunities for High School Seniors (Scholars) and their families to obtain higher-education.
Five (5) Students per market, will be chosen from the LATINO YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM to receive the HISPANIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD SCHOLARSHIP
The HISPANIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS honors 20 exceptional Latino Seniors, from low-income families, with scholarships for continuing education at major league ballparks in NYC, SD, HOU, CHI and MIA, nominated by their high school principals for their academic excellence. (100 Total Scholarships).
